Frenship Tiger Volleyball Continues Strong Start of the Season

Frenship Tiger Volleyball continued their strong start to the 2019 season with impressive efforts in midweek play against Canyon as well as in the Frenship Varsity Tournament the following weekend.

The Tigers took down the Canyon Eagles in four sets on Tuesday, August 20th, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 27-25 to improve to 14-5 on the season. Gracie Harrison led the Tigers with 16 kills with Aali Mayfield contributing another eight. Kendall Mahaney and Hannah Page combined for 46 digs on the day to lead defense and Harrison tallied a double-double adding 18 digs of her own.

The Tigers extended their winning streak to 15 games taking down Sweetwater, Midland Christian, Lubbock Monterey, Plainview, and El Paso Montwood in the Frenship Varsity Tournament to advance to the semifinals match against Bushland. The Tigers fell to the Bushland Falcons 12-25, 19-25 to end their run in the tournament and finish in third place on the weekend. Kayton Genenbacher was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Another impressive storyline on the weekend was the Frenship Volleyball JV Blue team coached by Whitney Lusk. The JV Tigers competed in the varsity tournament and posted an impressive performance against stiff varsity competition defeating Seminole, Plainview, and El Paso Austin in Pool C. They eventually played their way to the Gold Bracket Semifinals where they fell to Wichita Falls Rider. The Frenship JV Blue team finished fourth in the varsity tournament.

The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday, August 26th against Trinity Christian in the Tiger Pit and the game will be a blue out.
