Tiger Sports Continue to Rise to Success

Cross Country Sends Four to Regional Meet

The Frenship Cross Country team posted a strong showing at the District Meet in Odessa on Thursday. Both the boys and girls teams finished fourth on the day and qualified two runners for the Regional Meet. For the girls it’s Audrey Allen (21:08.22) and Emma Logan (21:14.03) who finished 8th and 10th respectively and will be advancing. For the boys it’s Zachariah Martinez (17:04.31) and Jalon Jackson (17:28.62 who finished 5th and 9th and will advance.

All of these runners will represent the Tiger Cross Country team on Monday, October 28 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock and compete for a chance to advance to the State Meet in Round Rock on November 9.

Tiger Tennis Season Ends in Area Round

After winning a tough Bi-District match over the El Paso Franklin Cougars, the Tigers headed to the Abilene Rose Park Tennis Center to face Arlington Lamar in the Area Round of the State Playoffs. The Tigers battled but ultimately fell to the Vikings 7-10 ending their season, but not before placing multiple players on the All-District List.

Volleyball Notches 4th District Sweep and First District Stumble

The #20 Tiger Volleyball team swept the Midland Lee Rebels on the road last Tuesday with a 25-15, 25-21, 26-24 performance. That’s the fourth sweep for the Tigers in a row in District 2-6A play in six games. Emma Davila was impressive in service with 5 aces on the night and Gracie Harrison led the way offensively with 13 kills and 2 aces of her own. She also chipped in a team-leading 1.5 blocks and 16 digs of her own as well. Hannah Page led the digs column with 18. Kayton Genenbacher set her team up with 28 assists and tallied a kill and an ace for good measure.

On Homecoming Friday, the Tigers played host to the Midland High Bulldogs in the Tiger Pit. The Tigers took the first set 25-21 but then faltered and were unable to recover losing the next three 22-25, 21-25, 14-25 to suffer their first loss in District 2-6A and first in over a month since losing on the road to Hereford on September 17. Offensively, Gracie Harrison led the way with 12 kills and Jentre Kennedy was close by with another 10. Harrison was impressive with 23 digs on the night followed closely by Hannah Page with 18. Kayton Genenbacher tallied 38 assists on the evening and chipped in .5 blocks, 3 kills, and an ace as well.

The Tigers will play their final home game of the regular season as they honor their seniors on Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the Tiger Pit. They’ll play host to the Amarillo Tascosa Rebels (22-13, 5-2). The Rebels are in 2nd place in District 2-6A. The Tigers needed five sets on the road to beat the Rebels on September 27 in the second game of district play.

Boys Golf Continues Domination in Odessa

The Tiger Boys Golf team traveled to Odessa in the wee hours of Friday morning to take part in the West Texas Classic there. The Tigers led after shooting a 280 on day one and ultimately shot a 4-under 572 over 36 holes and took 1st Place in the tournament. Additionally, the Tigers posted the top three individuals with Logan Vargas taking first, Jayce Hargrove taking second, and Brian Boles taking third.

The Tigers will be back in action this weekend as they travel to the South Plains Shootout at Rockwind in Hobbs, NM next Friday and Saturday.
