Abby Robertson has a passion for dancing and the Frenship Tigers. A member of the Varsity Pom Squad every year of her high school career, Abby was voted Team Captain for the 2019-2020 season. Her dedication to the dance program at Frenship High School as well as her position as Captain led to her selection as the FHS representative at the 2020 Texas Dance Educators Association Convention.
"Abby is always willing to do whatever it takes to make her team successful," Dance Department Chair, Courtney Ferguson said. "She is always thinking ahead and staying organized to better help with communication and be someone the squad can rely on."
Around 250 talented dancers from around the state came together to learn from celebrity choreographers and take master classes at the TDEA convention. This group of All-State dancers are the leaders of their drill teams, dance teams, pom squads and come from a variety of backgrounds and cities.
Abby was able to learn new techniques of dance in different genres and styles and learned new choreography from a master in the dance world, Mr. Teddy Forance.
"Teddy Forance has performed and choreographed all over the world," said Ferguson. "He has created pieces for different motion pictures including movies like Step Up and has even performed his work at the Oscars. He has also danced with Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson."
Ferguson said Abby is dedicated to her role as both a dancer and leader on the Pom squad. She continues her dance training outside of school at her home studio to ensure her art is at its peak and is always helping to promote school events because of her love for the Frenship Tigers.
"As a department, we are so proud of Abby and are so thankful to have shared so many experiences with her," Ferguson said. "She will be missed greatly when she graduates."
