Amy Baker, coordinator of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program at Frenship said INCubatoredu is all about creation, and that is what they wanted this new classroom to spark.

“In this kind of environment,” Baker said, “students are encouraged to think beyond a classroom desk or chair, and truly become an innovator or creator.”

Baker said the room's concept was meant to feel different from all other classrooms and will encourage collaboration.

Back in January, Keith Patrick, Director of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Frenship, along with several community partners, helped launch the new program. At the January meeting of the Frenship ISD Board of Trustees, the announcement of financial support from a public-private partnership made the implementation of this project possible.

“The course is community-driven and relies on mentors and coaches from outside the high school to help students find success in building their businesses,” Patrick said. “Community partners will not only drive the program but have helped launch it.”

Scott Smith, Frenship High School Business teacher and Head Boys Soccer Coach, will be the course instructor. Through collaboration with Baker, Smith, and Patrick, Meredith Caudle, Frenship Communications Manager, designed the INCubatoredu wall wrap that encompasses the true meaning of innovation and creation.
