Senior Logan Vargas committing to the University of Houston, one of collegiate golf’s most storied programs, shows just how high the expectations have been set for Tiger Golf.
Coach Dan McDonald’s squad was in Abilene October 2-3 for the Bill Wallace Memorial at Diamond Back Golf Club. Led by Vargas’s impressive 66 in round one the Tigers were in first place with a team score of 297 and they never looked back. Frenship finished in first place with a two-day team score of 602 and Vargas finished the tournament with a 6 under par to win place first overall.
While the past for Frenship is important and the present is strong, the future is bright as well. Freshman golfer Hunter Welch saw his first varsity action at this tournament already competing with very talented varsity squad. Welch placed 4th overall in the tournament with a two-day score of 147.
The Tigers will be back in action October 9-10 at the West Texas Classic at the Odessa Country Club and Ratliff Ranch Golf Links. Fans can always follow @FrenshipSports and @Frenship_Golf on Twitter for updates on Tiger Boys Golf.
