Senior Soccer Spotlight: Carmen Cervantez

Read the Q&A below to learn more about this outstanding athlete:

Q: Tell us about you!

A: I attended Christ the King Catholic school and transferred to North Ridge in second grade and have been a Tiger ever since. I’ve played soccer since I was three years old and fell in love with the game from the first time I ever stepped foot on a soccer field. Soccer has always been a big part of my life!

Q: Tell us about your soccer career.

A: I have had the opportunity to play for, and learn from, many great coaches on several teams throughout my career, including FC Dallas WTX and Sting Dallas ECNL. My dad has also contributed greatly to developing me into the athlete I am today. From taking me on road trips for games across the state, to encouraging my to be the best version of myself, my dad is my number 1 fan, and I can’t thank him enough for what he has done for me.

Q: How is the season going?

A: I am super excited for my final year of high school soccer. Each year is another opportunity for a new team to come together and grow as individuals and as a whole. District kicks off on January 26, and I am confident we will continue the Tiger soccer tradition as district champs for the fifth year in a row. Being a part of Frenship’s varsity soccer program has been one of the best high school experiences for me. The pre-season tournaments are my favorite because of the challenge. It is exciting to compete against of the best high school teams in Texas and come home confident for district.

Q: What is next for you?

A: I committed to Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in December 2019. From my first ID camp in Corpus, I knew it was the perfect school for me. I fit in really well with their style of play and absolutely loved the coaching staff. I am so lucky to have found such an amazing school and I can’t wait to join the Islanders this fall.

They aren’t lying when they say, “high school goes by quicker than you think.” I am soaking in every last moment as a senior and hope to leave a legacy for future Frenship soccer girls.
