Neither team was able to find the back of the net but Frenship players showed immense promise and skill.
Freshman Mia Chambliss strategically played midfield all night, setting up her Tiger teammates for plays and attacking the goal. Lexi Moore stopped a quick San Angelo forward, able to keep the game at a stalemate.
Coach Lauren Denning said her team created several chances but needs to work on follow through.
“I was really happy with the team defense,” Denning said. “We did really well covering for each other and they showed off well with 1v1 defending, which has been something that we have focused on, as well as overall positioning and movement.”
Denning said she was happy with the first District match.
“I think it was a good start to a tough district,” Denning said. “Central was a good team that we can take some things and learn from, and improve and build on, as we continue through district.”
The Tigers head to Odessa Permian this Friday to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m.
