The Frenship Tigers Football team is 2-0 for the first time since 2016, and just banked the largest margin victory since 2013 in their most recent game against the Clovis Wildcats. Now the team is ready for their crosstown showdown against the no. 5 ranked Lubbock-Cooper Pirates, who recently breezed past a tough Coronado High School team 28-7.
Frenship Football Head Coach Jay Northcutt said that he saw improvement from game one during game two against Clovis. He commented about how they improved in eliminating mistakes like not having 175-yards in penalties like they did against Coronado week one.
The Tigers shined on defense, holding Clovis to only 35 rushing yards, forcing three turnovers, and never allowing the Wildcats to get past their 41-yard line.
Because of the 35-0 lead at halftime, the Tigers were able to put some of the reserves on the field for some lengthy playing time.
Backup quarterback Gage Cobb helped lead the Tigers to three more scores in the second half, hitting Sterling Inman for a 57-yard catch halfway through the third quarter.
Northcutt and his team are excited to have this winning momentum as they charge into game day on Friday, ready for war against Lubbock-Cooper.
Don’t forget! The game will be live-streamed at Frenship.TV, on the Frenship Athletics Facebook page, and on your streaming device using the Boxcast app.
