Melanie Braune, Special Education and Life Skills teacher at Legacy, said while the main focus of Life Skills is academics, daily living and social skills are high on their list of priorities.
"My team and I are always looking for fun and innovative ways to incorporate all areas of learning for our students and the thanksgiving lunch is a great way to work on skills," Braune said. "The thanksgiving lunch allows our students to prepare a menu, set the table, serve food, prepare drinks, and create decorations."
The group consisted of more than 50 students from Pre-kindergarten to fifth grade.
"Our lunch provides an opportunity to show our parents what their children are working on," Braune said. "It is exciting to watch their families see what a great job they are doing."
