Frenship Girls Basketball Team Prepares for Weekend Tournament

In the Hub City Tip-Off Classic tournament, the Tigers took on four team, three of which are ranked in the top 15 in the state in their division; Sudan, Plainview and Idalou.

Frenship Girls Basketball Head Coach Trent Hilliard said he was proud of the way his team competed in the tournament.

"We were able to win the tournament for the third consecutive time," Hilliard said. "Abbi Holder and Andie Caddel made the all-tournament team, and Mikah Chapman was the tournament MVP!"

The Tigers took on the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates next in a show down in the Tiger Pit. The game was a back-and-forth brawl, and the Tigers ended up on the losing end.

"Despite playing without two starters because of injury, we hung close with the Pirates," Hilliard said. "It was a balanced scoring attack with Andie Caddel and Addison McClure each getting 9 points, while Abbi Holder and Chandler Wilson each recorded 8 point games."

The Tigers fell to the Pirates by 10, 47-57.

This week the Tigers hosted Sands, the class 1A #2 ranked squad, at the Tiger Pit.

Frenship couldn't buy a basket, going 2 for 19 from the three-point line. The team was only able to score a collective 30 points, lead by recent Southwestern Oklahoma State University signee Zaria Fowler.

The Tigers will take to the road this weekend to compete in the Cow Town Classic tournament in Fort Worth.

"Our focus on this weekend is to spend quality time together as a team and build our team chemistry, that is the great benefit of traveling to an out-of-town tournament," Hilliard said. "On the floor, we are looking to reduce our turnover rate and eliminate the other teams offensive rebounds."
