On Saturday, February 26, the Tigers took on Midland Legacy for the second time this season for another fierce matchup against the number one team in the District.

 

"It was a close game with the 1st place team vs 2nd place team," Frenship Boys Soccer Head Coach Scott Smith said. "We didn't have a lot of chances to score, and the match was fairly even, but I am very proud of our defenders. In particular, Ethan Adams, Andrew Beck, Owen Navarrette – they had a specific player to do their job against and they did so very well."

 

The Tigers ended the match against Midland at a draw, 0-0, which further emphasizes how closely matched the two teams were.

 

On Tuesday, March 1, Frenship traveled to Abilene to take on the Abilene High Eagles, where they dominated and came home with the W, 2 nil.

 

"Jon Olivarez had both goals, and both were assisted by Ryan Pine," Smith said. "I am very proud of Jon for maintaining high numbers and standards, and Ryan for executing his directions and having such a big impact on the match."

 

The Tigers had 68% possession to Abilene High's 32%, creating 18 changes with 12  on target, and limiting Abilene to 19 passes in the defending third.

 

"We were excellent on both sides of the game – attacking and defending," Smith said. " I am very happy with everyone on the roster playing their part as we’re all struggling with bumps and bruises after our 22nd game overall this season."

 

The Tigers have a bye this weekend and won't be back on the pitch until Monday, March 8 for Senior Night when they take on Odessa High at the Frenship High School Soccer Pitch.

 

"We’re having some fun this week as we take some time off from training," Smith said, "starting with a spicy wing eating competition today, and a trip to Main Event Friday night."

 

 

On Saturday, February 26, Frenship Girls Soccer faced off against Midland Legacy for their second match this season. 

 

"We started the game off strong with scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes and then a third to round to close out the first half," Frenship Girls Soccer Head Coach Lauren Denning said. "It can be easy to take your foot off the gas a little bit, and we let Legacy come out in the second half and score right away. That woke us up again and we were able to finish out the game with a final goal that really solidified the win."

 

The Tigers finished off the Lady Rebels winning 4-1. 

 

"I named Alyson Dankesreiter as our Captain before the game," Denning said. "She has been a leader for several years and has had to put up with some of the negative side of being a leader, so it was good to reward her and recognize her. I was really happy with having four different goal scorers during that game and four different people offering assists. It is rare to find a team with that many weapons, so if we can continue to put people in dangerous positions, I think we can do well in these last games in District play and put ourselves in a good spot for playoffs."

 

The Tigers traveled to Abilene to take on the Abilene High Eagles on Tuesday, March 1, where they got the W 3 nil.

 

With only two District 2-6A matches left, Frenship Girls Soccer will be back on the pitch on Monday, March 8 for Senior Night against Odessa High at the Frenship High School Soccer Pitch.
