Mia Chambliss and Zeta McDannels got things going for Frenship with two goals early in the first half, which kicked off the Tiger's scoring frenzy, leaving them with five goals in the first half.
Chambliss and McDannels scored two goals, each in the first half, while Makayla Varela added one. Alyson Dankesreiter added a goal in the first and the second, along with two assists, while Jaycee Garza also produced an assist.
The Tigers defeated the Bronchos 6-1 and are currently sitting at third place in District 2-6A standings. They will compete in their final regular season match on Tuesday, March 15 when they take on Midland High in Midland.
"We had a great game against Odessa High on Tuesday night," Frenship Girls Head Soccer Coach Lauren Denning said. "It was just very evident that our girls were having fun and enjoying getting to play and compete with each other. We got off to a great start and kept our foot on the gas for the rest of the game. It was a great way to celebrate our seniors and what they mean to our team and to celebrate with our home fans."
The Frenship Girls Soccer team will graduate four seniors this year, Mackenzie Walser, Caden Bollinger, Alyson Dankesreiter, Paxton Meier, and Senior Athletic Trainer, Kara Pyle.
"These seniors are so special because of the relationships they have worked to build off the field," Denning said. "Their impact on this program is one that will remain because of those relationships, and that is why we are proud that they will forever be a part of Frenship Girls Soccer."
The Tigers are looking ahead as the top four in District 2-6A will advance to the Bi-District playoff round.
"We are in third place right now with the top four teams going to playoffs, but with the win last night we have clinched a playoff spot," Denning said. "After our last game, we will have a better idea of who we will be playing and start working to schedule that game location and time for the Thursday or Friday after Spring break."
Frenship Boys Soccer
The Frenship Boys Soccer team secured the number two playoff seed after their 1-1 draw against Odessa High on Tuesday, March 8.
Frenship standout senior Jon Olivarez scored the first Tiger goal of the match off a free kick just outside the box after being fouled on a breakaway attempt, but less than 90 seconds later, the Odessa High Bronchos answered the call scoring their first goal.
Frenship's Edgar Gonzales controlled the edge with Jeremiah Adams at midfield. Andrew Beck served as the anchor on the back line, while Jalon Jackson and Ethan Adams were able to help stop Odessa from gaining any momentum off their scored goal.
With the tie, Frenship clinched the second place spot in District 2-6A behind first place Midland Legacy, with only one match remaining next Tuesday, March 15 at Midland High.
