For the first time since 2019, the Frenship Softball team will head to the playoffs with at least a share of the District 2-6A championship.
Frenship (10-1) secured the win against the Lady Bronchos on the back of another strong start from senior pitcher Erin Boles, who tossed a complete game while giving up just two earned runs and striking out 8.
The strong performance from Boles was just what the doctor ordered for Frenship after back-to-back losses to Abilene High and Coahoma.
"This win assured us of being co-champions," Frenship Head Softball Coach Robby Dickenson said. "It was a great team effort."
Erin Boles was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts and only three hits given. Lysa Builtron had two hits, one homer, and four RBIs. Sydnee Bowlin had three hits and Makayla Garcia had two hits.
The Tigers will close out the regular season in a match up against the second place team, Midland High tonight in Midland.
"Tonight's game gives us a chance to win District outright," Dickenson said. "That is our goal and plan. We had a close and exciting game last time we played Midland High here at home, so there will definitely be playoff atmosphere in Midland tonight. We are looking forward to the challenge."
