Child Abuse Prevention is a priority for Frenship ISD. Across the district, Frenship strives to spread awareness for this issue to ensure the safety and well-being of our families, by partnering with the community and connecting our families with resources to help.
Child Abuse Prevention Month focuses on the many resources available to help families. Through communication, awareness, and community initiatives, Frenship highlights the ways families can get help. Frenship designated last Friday as the #GoBlue Day for members of the district to show support for this initiative.
“Child Abuse Prevention Month is so important to our district because we know that when students feel safe, they are able to learn and grow,” said Amy Smallwood, Crisis Intervention Counselor at Frenship ISD. “Our students are our top priority, and now more than ever, we are seeing families struggle as we are finding our way out of the pandemic.”
This is a time to help students understand that if they witness or experience abusive behaviors from adults in their lives, school is a safe place with caring adults that are willing to invest in them and will make every effort to provide safety for them.
The Frenship ISD counselor webpage has many resources related to child abuse prevention and how to report abuse. It also has information on how to recognize the signs of abuse. There is information available to parents about free parenting classes in our area, parenting tips, and many other articles for resources. The campus counselors are on the front lines at campuses to provide support to families.
