Collectively, the Frenship band brought home 160 Division 1 medals including 70 students with their solos and 19 ensembles made up of 90 students.

Solos and ensembles are classified into three categories, Class 1, 2, & 3, with a Class 1 considered the most difficult performance. Students who perform a Class 1 solo by memory or a Class 1 ensemble, and earn a Division 1 rating, qualify for the State Solo and Ensemble contest.

Frenship had 75 students in ensembles and 30 students with solos earn the Class 1, Division 1 distinction. In this collective number, Frenship band had 20 students qualify for state on both a solo and an ensemble. These 85 individual performers will head to the UIL State Contest in Austin on May 27.
