Frenship Baseball Wins Big at Inaugural Five Tool Festival

With a 4-2 record, the Tigers came in third overall for the tournament just behind Flower Mound Marcus and Rockwall.

In game one, Frenship lost to Rockwall 4-1. A bright spot for the Tigers was a single by Brady Boles in the first inning. Brooks Roberson was on the hill for the Tigers lasting five innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out seven. Braxton Neel threw one inning out of the bullpen. Hudson Hutcheson, Boles, and Carson Heise each collected one hit to lead the Tigers.

In game two, the Tigers stole the lead late in the game in a 3-2 victory over the Rockwall Heath Hawks. Ryland Morin led things off on the hill for Frenship, surrendering two runs on three hits over five innings, and striking out four. The Tigers racked up seven hits. Boles went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits.

In game three, it came down to the last play, and the Tigers had a touch defeat 7-6 against Rock Hill. The Tigers fell short despite out-hitting Rock Hill 12 to eight.

In game four, the Tigers beat the Southlake Carroll Dragons 4-3. The Tigers pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Nano Mendoza tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Blaine Chancy singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. Nick Blevins pitched the Tigers to victory.

In game five, the Tigers nabbed the lead late in the game in a 4-1 victory over Prosper. The game was tied at one with Frenship batting in the top of the seventh when Landon Hutcheson doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Zane Cobb was the winning pitcher for Frenship, allowing two hits and zero runs over three innings, and striking out one.

In the final game of the tournament, the Tigers had a second chance to take on Rock Hill, this time defeating them 11-7. The Tigers got things moving in the first inning when Ethan Curbo’s sac fly scored two runs. Weston Reynolds was on the mound for Frenship and allowed three hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.
