The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) hosts an annual art competition called Reflections. Students across the state submit their completed works of art in one or all the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.
This year, the PTA Reflections theme was Show Your Voice! And students throughout Texas utilized the arts to ensure their voice was heard! The Texas PTA received 823 entries at the state-level and the top 30 were selected by judges to advance to the National PTA Competition.
Six Frenship students received various awards at the state contest for their submissions, with one student advancing to the national contest. Nikolus "Indy" Linnenkuguel from Heritage Middle School received the Overall Award of Excellence in the Middle School Category for his entries in both Film Production and Photography. Linnenkuguel’s entries automatically advance to the National PTA competition, whose results will be announced on May 1.
Students receiving an Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, Award of Excellence or Overall Award of Excellence will be presented with an award by Texas PTA President Suzi Kennon at a ceremony held Saturday, April 29.
“I am so proud of those students that participated this year,” said Redina Franklin, Frenship PTA Reflections Committee Chair. “It is always fun to see Frenship students' creative expressions in the PTA Reflections contest.”
