The Boys Golf team kicked off their Fall 2023 season by competing in two tournaments. The Blue Golf Team traveled to Fort Worth for the Bart Granger Memorial Tournament. The Gold Golf Team stayed closer to home competing in the Lubbock ISD Invitational.
“The Frenship Varsity Blue and Gold golf teams had a great start to their Fall season at their respective tournaments this weekend. These Tigers battled mentally and physically to overcome mother nature’s test,” said Assistant Golf Coach, Dustin Thomas.
Bart Granger Memorial Golf Tournament Results
With 52 total schools and over 250 players, the Bart Granger tournament is the largest in the United States. The Tigers gave the competition their best swing and have some impressive scores to show for it.
Hunter Welch tied for 16th individually shooting 70/69. Placing in the Top 100 were Palmer Stephens at 62nd (72/74) and Hunter Gossett at 88th (72/77). As a team, the Tigers shot 294/300 for a 2-day total of 594 and a Top 20 finish.
Lubbock ISD Invitational Results
Day one of the Lubbock ISD Invite was at Lakeridge Country Club, and day two was at Shadow Hills Golf Course. The boys were able to showcase their skillset on the course competing against teams from across the area.
Lane Monroe finished 18th individually shooting 78/72. Placing in the Top 100 were Zach Ware at 93rd (102/78), Pace Parker at 63rd (84/81), Jetson Hobbs at 78th (87/85), and Camden Reese at 95th (90/91). Medalist Jackson Bonnett came in at 69th (84/83). As a team the Tigers shot 339/316 for a 2-Day total of 655 and a 12th place finish.
