Frenship High School Speech and Debate Team Prepares for Strong Season

The Frenship High School students in Speech and Debate have hit the podium speaking and don’t plan on slowing down.  

“We competed at the University of Texas Permian Basin against 10 other schools on Saturday, September 16.  We left at 5:30 AM from Frenship High School and returned at 10:30 with awards in hand,” said Speech and Debate Coach Heather Byars. 

Odessa Permian Tournament Results  

  • Liam Byars broke to semis in Humorous Interpretation 
  • Danielle Duff broke to semis in Program of Oral Interpretation  
  • Elijah Hernandez broke to finals in Congressional Debate 
  • Mallory Winnett placed 6th in Informative Speaking 
  • Tatum Cameron placed 5th in Informative Speaking and Original Oratory 
  • Joyden Ukele placed 4th in Informative and earned 3rd place in Original Oratory 

At the Borger tournament the Frenship Speech and Debate team faced 23 other schools, with over 245 competitors. Although this may sound daunting, that didn’t face the Tigers.

  • Tatum Cameron placed 6th in Informative Speaking 
  • Elijah Hernandez placed 4th in Student Congress Debate 
  • Danielle Duff placed 6th in Program of Oral Interpretation 

Up next, the Speech and Debate team travels to Muleshoe on October 7 for the next tournament. Best of luck students, you will do great!
