Girls Soccer Competes at the National Elite Prep Showcase

Head Girls Soccer Coach Lauren Denning is proud of how the Girls Soccer team performed at the first tournament of the season. The Tigers put up a strong fight against several experienced teams.

“The girls worked hard, and we competed really well against strong DFW opponents. These tournaments are so important because they allow us to see how we stack up to teams throughout the state,” said Coach Denning.

National Elite Prep Showcase Results

  • Frenship tied Dallas Highland Park, 0-0
  • Frenship tied Plano West, 1-1
  • Frenship defeated Pflugerville Weiss, 5-0

Goals scored included Jada Reyes for the Plano West game and Zeta McDannels, Baye Biddix (2), Scout Gonzales, Mia Chambliss for the Pflugerville Weiss game.

“There was a really strong showing from our backline, and Bella Medrano (goalkeeper) held strong against some very powerful attackers,” said Coach Denning.

The Tigers are currently competing in the Governor's Cup Tournament in Georgetown. Games started on Thursday, January 18, and will wrap up on Saturday, January 21. So far in the tournament, the Tigers have faced Pflugerville Hendrickson. The Tigers had a tied match 2-2 with goals scored by Jaycee Garza and Mia Chambliss

“It was definitely not the result that we wanted, but it was a fair result for how we played. We were disappointed to give up the goals and did not finish the way we wanted to. It’s hopefully a good game to learn from and improve upon over the rest of this weekend,” said Coach Denning.
