Tiger Wrestling Takes Home First Place at Palo Duro Pool Tournament

The Frenship High School Girls Wrestling team hit the mat last weekend ready to let their Tiger Pride shine through. The Tigers did exactly that as they were awarded 1st place win at the tournament.

Individually for the Girls, Kenna Neeley and Hannah Demel brought home the gold in first place. Gabby Cardenas and Aiyana Wright came in second with silver medals. Lexie Jackson, Kayden Johnson, Kiersten Duarte, and Jackie Botello came in third with bronze medals.

Assistant Wrestling Coach, Anna Williams wants to commend the Girls Wrestling Team for continuing to look ahead and giving every meet 100% of their energy.

“I am very proud of the girls. Coming out of the regular season with two team wins and several individual wins is huge going into Districts. They are showing their perseverance, focus, and dedication when it could be so easy to give in,” said Coach Williams.

The Girls have a record of 13-3 team dual/tri/quad wins with two 1st place and one 2nd place team wins in tournaments. The Boys have a record of 11-10 team dual/tri/quad wins with a 2nd place team finish in a tournament.

This Saturday, February 3, is the District Tournament for the Frenship High School Wrestling Team. Both the Boys and Girls will compete at Keller Timber Creek starting at 9:00 a.m.

“The team is working diligently to prepare for a tough competition at Districts this weekend. We have been reviewing film, training on the mat during the class period and after school, and remembering we deserve to win,” said Coach Williams. “Reinforcing confidence and a competitive mentality is vital as the girls are chasing their third in a row district championship title while the guys are going for their first district championship.”

Best of luck, Tigers! We are rooting for you!
