Four FCCLA Students Advance to the State Competition

On February 9-10, six Frenship High School students competed at the Regional FCCLA Competition hosted at the Lubbock Civic Center. Through these competitions, the students are able to select competitions that best suit their own career desires, interests, and aptitudes while also networking with other students across the region.

At the Regional competition, four of the six students competing earned spots at the state competition. Abby Cluff, a first-time competitor is headed to state after earning 1st place in Early Childhood Education. “Her judges were amazed at how natural she is as a young educator and have high hopes for her future in teaching,” said FCCLA Coach Cassandra Duran.

Chloe Lester earned the 2nd place spot for Nutrition and Wellness, securing her spot at the state competition.  “The judges loved how thoughtful her project was and how well thought out her meal planning was,” said Duran. “She has done well learning about nutrition and implementing it in her life.”

The duo Alison Abston and Aubree Davis are also headed to state after placing 3rd in Interior Design. “These ladies did not come to play, they worked very hard designing their dog rescue and the judges were blown away with their presentation,” said Duran.

While Tru Pack and Saniya David’s Spotlight on Projects Community Service presentation did not win a top three spot at Regionals to secure a state appearance, their hard work and dedication was evident.

“They did very well against 10 other competitors. Their project that highlighted the community service our FCCLA chapter has completed over the school year was well thought out and displayed nicely,” said Duran. “All six young ladies worked extremely hard and took time before, after, and during school holidays to produce thoughtful projects. We are all excited to head to the State Competition in April to reach our goals of going to Nationals this summer.”

Cluff, Lester, Abston, and Davis will compete at the State FCCLA Competition in Dallas on April 11-14. Good luck, Tigers!
