The Varsity Boys Golf team traveled to Grand Prairie this past weekend to compete in the Region 1-6A Preview at Tangle Ridge Golf Course. The Tigers had a superior time at the competition with one athlete bringing home the gold.
Frenship High School senior Hunter Welch led the way for the Tigers, firing a 72-69-141 total, awarding him the Preview Individual Medalist out of 115 players.
The rest of the team was followed by Lane Monroe 80-77-157, Drew McCalib 83-81-164, Palmer Stephens 77-88-165, and Jackson May 79-88-167. The Tigers finished 13th overall out of 23 teams.
Not only did the Varsity team excel recently, but the Tiger Black and White teams came out on top at the Frenship Tiger Classic this past Tuesday, March 5th, at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
“The weather was absolutely perfect as 13 teams participated. The Black team came in 2nd firing a 338 and the White team came in 3rd with a 343,” said Head Boys Golf Coach, Andrew Correll.
Frenship’s Black team was led by Nic Hernandez' 81, John Whitfield and Braden McGill with 85s, and John Anguino and Aidan Camacho with 87s.
The White team was led by Jackson Bonnett's 77, awarding him as a 2nd Medalist. Camden Reese fired an 88, followed by Carson Beardemphl and Jaxson Bailey at 89, and Elec Minter with a 91.
Additional awards include Jackson Bonnett winning the Closest to the Pin award on hole #15 and Jaxson Bailey winning the Longest Drive on hole #8.
Up next, the Boys Golf Teams are traveling to Amarillo on March 8 through 9 to compete in the Amarillo Relays Invitational before Spring Break.
