The Frenship High School Softball Team has much to be proud of this season. From winning District, Bi-District, and advancing to Area, the Tigers have shown that they have what it takes to win.
In the Area Playoff Round Game 1 against Timber Creek, the Tigers played a nail-biter game, but ended up coming up short 1-2, after a three-hour weather delay.
“Senior Kynlee Bowlin pitched lights out with throwing just 94 pitches with nine strikeouts and one walk,” said Assistant Softball Coach Anna Williams. “Lexi Clark went 2 for 3 with two singles and Ami Perez had a double.”
In Game 2 of the Playoffs, the team came out swinging with a victory of 4-2 over Timber Creek.
“Lexi Clark held it down in the circle with 11 strikeouts and two walks which helped the Tigers secure the win,” said Coach Williams. “Senior Ava Garcia went 2 for 3 with a single and double which helped the Tigers rally and score. Jada Reyna also had a double.”
In Game 3, the Tigers fought a hard battle, but lost 4-10 to the Timber Creek Falcons.
“Kelvie Roberts came out guns blazing going 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Juelz Landeros went 2 for 4 with two singles. Senior Kynlee Bowlin started the game and ended the day with six strikeouts. Lexi Clark came in relief and had two strikeouts.”
When reflecting on the season, Coach Williams shares one challenge the team faced and overcame was when they played Midland High. The Tigers held their heads high and demonstrated good sportsmanship even through an unfortunate loss.
“Watching that experience and seeing their reactions firsthand to beating us gave the team a different perspective,” said Coach Williams. “It showed them that every team was and still is out to get them. I truly believe this loss helped the girls realize they are stoppable and that they needed to take every rep seriously in order to become better athletes and not experience loss again. It was difficult to witness and go through, but it helped them prepare for the playoffs.”
An additional area this season where the Tigers showed significant improvement was by taking their offensive skills to the next level.
“The team had solid defense throughout the whole season, but offensively, the team showed significant improvement by passing the bat in the order. We have been a strong hitting team, but it continued to get stronger as the season progressed. We saw athletes stepping up throughout the lineup at various times when we needed them to,” said Coach Williams.
We are proud of you, Frenship Softball!
