Desiree Stephenson is joining the Frenship Family as the new Girls Track Coach at Frenship High School. This will be her 12th year as a coach and in education. Stephenson has a strong background in Track and Field. She has served as an assistant volleyball and track coach at Legacy High School, assistant volleyball and track coach at Permian High School, and head cross country and head girls track coach at Midland High School.
Coach Stephenson is excited to be at Frenship and continue the Track and Field program's strong legacy.
“The Girls Track program at Frenship has become one of the strongest programs in West Texas and when the opportunity presented itself, I knew it was where I wanted to be,” said Coach Stephenson. “I am excited to lead these girls in the sport that I am passionate about and to be back in Lubbock (my hometown) is an added bonus.”
One of Coach Stephenson’s favorite parts about Track and Field is the wide variety of opportunities it offers to students.
“I think my favorite thing about Track & Field is an athlete's ability to find their place in an event due to such a wide range of opportunities. I'm thankful that I get to be a part of the Tiger Family and look forward to the upcoming school year,” said Coach Stephenson.
In addition to coaching the Girls Track and Field team, Coach Stephenson will coach PE at Frenship’s Ninth Grade Center. Her husband, Tipton, is the Terra Vista Boys Athletic Coordinator. They have an almost three-year-old named Olivia and a seven-year-old border collie, Cody, who is Olivia’s best friend.
We are excited to have you at Frenship, Desiree Stephenson!
