Kent Allison has been in education 38 years and has coached every classification from 1A to 6A. His teaching and coaching career began in Spur, TX, and since then he has coached in Pampa, Clarendon, Abernathy, Meadow, Lubbock-Cooper, Tahoka, and now Frenship.
“What led me to Frenship was the opportunity to be on Coach Northcutt’s staff,” said Coach Allison.
He has served as an AD head football coach, a defensive coordinator, an offensive coordinator, a head track coach, and an assistant basketball coach. Coach Allison has had 16 district champion track teams, three regional champion track teams, three regional runner-up track teams, and two state champions in track. During his time as a head track coach, he had many state qualifiers, athletes, and relays on the podium at the state track meet.
Coach Allison has enjoyed being a part of the Frenship Family and is looking forward to continuing his career as the new Head Boys Track Coach.
“I am excited to see what we can do this year in track and hope we can continue to build on what we already have in place,” said Coach Allison. “I think my favorite thing about Frenship is the tremendous coaching staff we have here and how well the staff works together. They have gone above and beyond for my wife and I during my time here and we appreciate them so much. They are a great group of men.”
One of his favorite parts about Track and Field is seeing how much the athletes grow and improve throughout their high school career.
“My favorite thing about track is to see kids start in the program as freshmen and to watch the progress they make over their four years in track. I enjoy seeing them develop a sense of toughness and determination and by the time they are seniors, they have an attitude, that they have something to prove at every meet,” said Coach Allison.
Coach Allison is married to his wife, Kimberly, who he met at Lubbock Christian University. They have three children, who are grown and have their own families. They have seven grandchildren, four boys and three girls. He has enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching his own children raise their kids.
Frenship is looking forward to the impact Coach Allison will continue to make on the Athletic Department through track and field. Congratulations, Coach!
