This weekend, around 75 Frenship High School and Ninth Grade Center theatre students will showcase their talent in a Fall Festival Workshop at the FHS Lab Theatre. The festival is open to the public with free entry and will feature nine performances by students from all grade levels.
The first performance, Where the Sky Meets the Sea, will serve as a workshop for a freshman class, taking place on Saturday, November 2, at 2 p.m. Day two will kick off with Almost Maine, performed by Theatre 2-3 students, also starting at 2 p.m.
The students have been finetuning their performances in class under the guidance of their teachers. This year, the high school theatre department welcomed two new teachers: Tre John, the Head Theatre Teacher, and Amy Fryar, who instructs in Makeup/Costume Design, Musical Theatre, and Advanced Theatre.
John stated that he is looking forward to the festival, and he sees the event as a valuable opportunity for students to perform on stage.
“I'm very excited to give so many kids a chance to perform in front of an audience,” said John. “The idea is that the more kids who have a chance to get in front of people, the more kids will find their passion for live theatre.”
The theatre teachers welcome and encourage family, friends, and Frenship staff to attend for the wonderful experience of watching these talented students perform.
