Frenship High School Students Selected as Texas All-State Musicians

Each year, approximately 70,000 students across Texas compete in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State process. Of these, only 1,875 were chosen for the honor to perform in one of 18 ensembles. This year, Frenship High School is proud to have four choir students and four band students selected to join these elite groups.

These students earned this prestigious honor through a rigorous selection process held across the state at the District, Region, and Area levels. Guided by Frenship Band Director Scott Carter and Choir Director Amy Moss, they excelled at every stage of the competition, securing their well-deserved spots at the State level.

All-State piccolo player, Ryder Day has made history. He is one of only three students in the history of Frenship High School to be a 4-year All-State Band member. In addition, Day is the first student to become a 4-year All-State member on piccolo in the State of Texas.

Carter shared his pride in the students for achieving the highest level of musicianship in Texas.

“They are representing their families, their community, the band program, and Frenship ISD in such a positive way,” said Carter. “Their many, many hours of diligent practice, focused dedication, and commitment to excellence has certainly paid off.  It is a testament to their incredible work ethic and musicianship.”

Moss expressed immense pride in every student who takes on the challenging All-State Choir audition process.

“We know they grow tremendously as musicians and human beings through this journey,” said Moss. “We are over the moon that Drake, Sky, Ella, and Kyra have been named All-State Choir members! Their hard work and dedication were evident the entire way and they are fully deserving.”

The Frenship All-State students will showcase their talents with the Texas All-State Choirs, Band, or Orchestra on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio. This performance is part of the 2025 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.

Over 30,000 people from Texas and around the world are expected to attend the convention which features over 300 workshops, 100 performances, and 600 exhibiting companies and higher education institutions. This is the nation’s largest music educator's convention.

Good luck, Tigers!
