From March 6th to the 8th, sixteen students from Frenship High School competed in the DECA State competition in Dallas, Texas. The competition included role plays concerning real-life business situations, research papers, business, marketing, and finance testing as well as presentations.
Texas DECA is the largest DECA organization in the world with 25,000 members. Over 8,000 students competed in Dallas for a chance to advance to ICDC, the national DECA competition. Two Frenship students won the title of DECA state champions, and will represent Texas, and Frenship ISD at the national competition. The two-state winners will attend this year’s national competition which will be held in Orlando Florida in April.
Taylor Wollenburg will compete in Restaurant and Food Service Management and Saif Bernstein will compete in Business Finance at the national contest. In each contest, both students engage in a role-play scenario where they are presented a problem and must present a solution to the judges.
"I am so proud of their hard work and excited for them,” said Rachel Allbritton, the Frenship High School DECA sponsor. “This is the first time both students will attend the DECA national competition.”
Congratulations Taylor Wollenburg and Saif Bernstein! Good luck at Nationals!
