Last spring at Texas A&M University’s World Food Prize, Gabrielle Louis was selected as one of the four students to represent the state of Texas at the Global Youth Institute hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation from October 17-19.

The Global Youth Institute invites only 200 exceptional high school students from around the world to participate in the program in Des Moines, Iowa to interact with Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates and discuss pressing food security and agricultural issues with international experts. Louis was invited to participate based on her work on a research project titled “Food Sustainability in Burkina Faso.”

Louis spoke highly of her experience in Des Moines. “It was very enlightening to see what kids your own age are doing to create positive change. We were all from different states and countries, but we were there together because we care about changing the world and reducing hunger.”
