In this edition of Talking with Tigers, we visit with Frenship ISD Director of Counseling Craig Thomson about the importance of Child Abuse Prevention Month and the resources available to help prevent, identify, and report child abuse and neglect.

Members of the Hope Squad at Frenship Middle School painted rocks with positive and encouraging messages on rocks to be placed in the Counselor’s Garden. These rocks are available for all students to take at their need for an extra boost of positivity to brighten their day.

During the week of October 23-27, campuses across Frenship ISD celebrated National Red Ribbon Week, a districtwide effort to promote drug prevention and awareness. While the students enjoyed fun dress up days, they also learned important lessons about the dangers of drugs and substance abuse.

September 10th through 15th is National Suicide Prevention week. We spoke with Craig Thomson, Director of Counseling, to discuss how Frenship ISD supports students on and off campus.

Over the summer, the Frenship ISD Counseling went through some changes, so we caught up with Craig Thomson, Director of Counseling, to discuss what's new and how they serve our Frenship students.

Before Winter break, students in the Family and Community Service course and Counseling and Mental Health course worked to create Christmas cards that they later delivered to the 90 residents of Crown Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lubbock.

Earlier this school year, Frenship ISD launched a new program called Threads and Treads, after receiving a large anonymous donation. Through this program, students in need are able to get brand new clothing and shoes.

The mentor program at FHS is made up of more than 100 students who serve elementary and middle school students across 11 campuses. The mentors each have two mentees, and in some cases more!

Counselors and teachers across Frenship connect and engage with students every school year, but due to COVID-19 they are having to become an even more creative resource for students, parents, and staff.
