Frenship Memorial High School will officially open its doors in August of 2025! This is a historic time for our district as we will be celebrating Frenship ISD’s 90th birthday when Frenship Memorial High School opens.
Back in 1935, four rural communities – Wolfforth, Hurlwood, Carlisle, and Foster – joined together to better serve their students. Starting with only 450 students that first year, Frenship has now grown to serve more than 11,700+ students with 1,400 staff members, and that number continues to grow each year.
Frenship Memorial’s Name
As one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas, we welcome the new students who are walking through our doors. But as we lean into the future of Frenship, we still hold tight to our rich tradition of excellence, our community-centered beliefs, and honor the history of those who were brave enough to come together back in 1935 to start something new!
The name, Frenship Memorial, does just that. Thanks to community feedback and more than 1,700 name nominations by students, parents, staff, alumni, and community members, Frenship ISD was proud to select the name Frenship Memorial High School as a way to honor the memory of those who laid the foundation for what Frenship has become today.

Mascot and Colors Process
The spirit-related decisions for Frenship Memorial High School are big decisions, and ones that we will make as a community. In February, a Spirit Committee was created to develop decision-making criteria for the mascot and secondary color for Frenship Memorial High School.
This committee consisted of Terra Vista Middle School and Heritage Middle School students who will be the first to attend Frenship Memorial, Frenship High School seniors, parents, Frenship alumni, Frenship staff, and community partners.
In March, Frenship ISD opened a nomination form for all students, parents, alumni, community members, and local businesses to submit a mascot nomination and a second color for Frenship Memorial High School. (All Frenship campuses will continue to use the common color of Frenship Blue.) All Terra Vista and Heritage students also had designated class time to submit nominations for their new school.
After a week of submissions, Frenship ISD received more than 5,200 suggestions and ideas from our stakeholders! The Spirit Committee then reviewed the feedback and suggestions, researched mascot and colors from across the state, and narrow down the most popular submissions. On April 8-9, Terra Vista and Heritage students, the first students who will walk the halls of Frenship Memorial High School, had the final say and voted on their new mascot and color!
