Last weekend both the Frenship girls and boys soccer teams played in some tough pre-district matchups. The girls played at home against Amarillo High School and Snyder High School on Saturday, January 16. The boys faced off in a weekend full of matches against Wichita Falls High School, L.D. Bell High School, and Lake Ridge High School all played at Midwestern State University.

Back in November, Frenship High School partnered with the Hugh E. Berger Memorial West Texas High School Bowling Club asking students to join the new FHS Bowling Club.

The Frenship Girls basketball team (16-4, 7-0) defeated Odessa Permian 71-35 on Tuesday at the Tiger Pit. The Frenship Boys basketball team (15-4, 6-0) held onto their District winning streak when they won against San Angelo Central last Friday, 71-46. On Tuesday they pulled out a win in a hard-fought battle against Odessa Permian, winning in double overtime, 63-62.

The Tiger Powerlifters represented Frenship High School at their powerlifting meet in Brownfield last weekend. More than 10 athletes competed for Frenship and four placed in their perspective weight classes.

The FHS boys soccer team played this week at Estacado in preparation for the start of district play coming up later in January. The Tigers brought home a victory in an epic defeat 8-0 over the Matadors.

Carmen Cervantez is a crucial player on the Frenship Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team this year. After a crazy season last school year, Carmen has signed to play after graduating high school, and is giving it her all in her final season at Frenship.

Frenship High School’s cheer team performed in their fifth appearance at the Spirit State Championship in Fort Worth, TX on Thursday, January 13. They placed 9th in the finals round in the Division 2 – 6A bracket.

Last week the Tigers (15-4, 6-0) faced Odessa High at the Tiger Pit and easily took home the win, 81-39. On Tuesday, the Tigers traveled to Midland High and sang a come-back song when senior, Airron Gaydon, scored a three-point shot at the buzzer, forcing overtime. The Tigers clenched the win with a final of 56-53.

Last week the Tigers (13-4, 4-0) won on the road in Odessa in a dominating performance ending the game 75-46. On Tuesday, they kept the momentum going when they rolled past Midland High at home, 71-52.

Coach Trent Hilliard reached his 400th career win when his team defeated Monterey on December 29.
